8 Things to do During Isolation

  1. Get into spring cleaning a little early
    • On a normal basis, it is extremely hard to have the time between work/school and everyday life, to go through and purge everything. This will be the absolute perfect time! I would recommend going through all your winter and fall items first, these things are fresh in your mind so you will definitely know if you like it or not. Then, move on to the things that you are switching into your closet or putting out for decor, for spring and summer. If you want a more detailed guideline for spring cleaning, let me know!
  2. Try new fun recipes
    • Try to create a new recipe that you love, with some of the random ingredients you have! I tried this and ended up making a taco lasagna in the CrockPot and it’s now one of Hunter’s favorite meals. I can’t think of a better time to experiment with cooking and learning.
      1. Disclaimer: I don’t recommend you do this if your state has implemented grocery restriction. Please do what is best for your family and stay stocked and prepared.
  3. Redecorate and Rearrange
    • This is the time to make your space as peaceful and functional as possible. I am a huge believer in how an ambiance affects your mood/energy. So, I think this is a great opportunity to clear out unwanted things and maybe even do a little DIY-ing, to help keep yourself and your family calm. I find that greys and taupes help keep me very peaceful and productive.
  4. Find some online friends
    • We are only social distancing face to face! Let’s make sure that everyone has a friend through this crazy time. I am so thankful to have so many friends and family to rely on, but not everyone has that luxury. It takes just a small minute of your day to reach out to someone who maybe doesn’t have people checking on them. This situation is affecting everyone differently, whether it’s being out of work, not being able to feed your kids, or even not being able to find diapers and wipes for them, everyone needs a little help and reassurance.
  5. Play the board games you haven’t seen in years
    • Break out those ancient hands-on games that you used to love. It is the perfect time to go through old things and reminisce a little! If you have little kids, you can even introduce “old school games” to them. I remember when my aunt showed me her old Barbie prom game and I was just absolutely ecstatic. And then BOOM, NEW TOYS!
  6. Do some research and find an awesome new book to read!
    1. I  know that we all make the excuse that we don’t have time, well here it is folks, the perfect time! If you haven’t read a book in a while it is helpful to do a little research to find the right match. My favorite site to find new books is https://www.goodreads.com/. You can create an account with them and choose your favorite genres and books you have read before (you’ll need to rate them), from that they will give you book recommendations. I created a profile and made it public so everyone can see my favorites and everything I have read ( I am still working on remembering all of them, so bear with me!)
  7. Try doing new at-home workouts
    • I know a lot of gyms are closed right now, and for a lot of us, it is extremely difficult to work out at home. Whether it is because you are too distracted at home, or like me, you have been in physical therapy and are very used to machines, I think a lot of people struggle to do at-home workouts. I am going to be making an effort to try breaking out my Wii console and playing my dance game (let’s say a small prayer that I don’t break anything or myself) and even just the Wii Fit game. It will at least allow me to be moving around while it is still pretty cold outside.
  8. And finally, binge watch Netflix
    • And this is what we have all been waiting for. We finally have no outside responsibilities to interfere with binge-watching a show or two.  So, my suggestion is to get some popcorn, and your favorite blanket and go to town!
      • P.S. If you need a little inspiration, I made a must watch list for mystery lovers!
