So far in wedding planning, I have found that there are about four different types of brides.
The first is the “Norma-Bride”, she’s the woman who has had a relatively “normal” life and has attended very “normal” weddings. Her ceremony would most likely be in a church or venue and then she’d havea plated chicken dinner to follow and an indoor venue of some sort, etc.)
The next is the “tradition-sucks Bride”, these are the elopers, the black dress-wearers, and the Sunday-Brunchers. She is probably going to walk down the aisle alone and have the coolest waffle table and mimosa bar. And she will definitely be thrifting cool rugs for her aisle and encouraging her bridal party (if she has one) to do so with their attire! Whatever she ends up doing everyone is leaving there having a completely new and fun wedding experience!
Then we have the “Princess Bride”, there will be no DIY, no coupons, and absolutely under no circumstances will there be any chain bridal salons. She probably has a personalized binder full of high-end vendors and a dream board hidden in her guest room. She has been dreaming of a huge, white, sparkle explosion of a dress, complete with the petty coat and all.
And finally, there is the “Blended-Bride”, She is a combination of all the types. She will probably have someone walk her down the aisle, and she’ll DIY her signs but her wedding gown will be one of a kind and she won’t shy away from personalized silk robes. She wants the best of all worlds!
With all that being said, I am very much the “Blended-Bride”. I am more than excited to be super hands-on, with lots of DIY-ing, and spreadsheets with budgets, but also want to trust the experts when it comes to my dress and my venue/rentals, etc. At the end of the day, whatever bride you are, your wedding should reflect who you and your future spouse are! That is the coolest thing about having a wedding, you get to celebrate your love with all of your closest friends and family, and you can do it however you want!
So in trying to get the perfect personalized feel for our wedding, I have been reading lots of blogs and watching tons of YouTube videos, and getting tons of ideas off of Pinterest. And because they are so helpful, I decided to share my ideas, during the long 20 months of wedding planning I have ahead! I’m going to do my best to update on the last Wednesday of every month, going over the last month’s progress (without giving too much away!) And by the end, I’ll be able to read over my whole process for myself as well.
